Why do we need them for property?

Current legislation provides that if you market property for sale or to let then, subject to exemptions, you need to have an EPC Certificate to market and dispose of an interest in the premises. 

Most people are aware of the requirement for an EPC for residential property, but it also includes commercial and industrial premises.

In 2018, subject to clarification of the legislation from the Government, if a property has an EPC Rating below F then you will not be able to market or dispose of the property by way of sale or lease.
