Energy Performance Certificates – rule changes
Imminent changes to the EPC Regulations mean that no agent will be permitted to market a property without an EPC being commissioned. From 06 April 2012, the EPC must be attached to the sales/letting particulars.
There are financial penalties capable of being imposed by Trading Standards’ Officers where the rules are not complied with, up to a current maximum amount of £5,000. These penalties will apply to the clients as well as the agent.
The responsibility of commissioning an EPC rests with the property owner.
Kingston maintains a register of locally approved EPC Assessors from whom competitive quotations can be obtained.
